In her retirement Ivy gave a large portion of her time to various charities, not least "Help the Aged". She visited several retirement homes and hotels in the area, providing the guests with many a happy hour, with musical memories which, according to the staff and in fact
the guests themselves, went down very well.

One of the benificiaries of her efforts was the local hospital - "Essex Rivers Healthcare NHS Trust". It was as a mark of their appreciation and gratitude to Ivy's activities that they named a new suite, "Ivy Benson House", in her memory.

The invitation shows full details and the opening event on 9 July 1997, was attended by several members of the band.
