D Day came and went and it was only a matter of time before it was all over and Joyce Clark's husband would be returning home. "We knew we were going to be the first females out there to do a Show but we didn't know when of course. Then suddenly the D Day landings were on and my husband was involved - and I think we were playing the Nottingham Empire when I heard he was wounded;

Ivy helped me out at that time. I think he was brought back to Derby into hospital.
I didn't know whether he was going to have an arm off or leg off or whatever;
thank God he was alright as it was just shrapnel in his chest.
Ivy took me to the Hospital and brought me back;

she was so kind."
